Looking for OSC (open sound control) to MIDI bridge software

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Looking for OSC (open sound control) to MIDI bridge software

Post by paperplastic »

Hello everyone,

in the last week I've been researching different options osc gives me, especially using android with an osc app and then controlling software on my pc. The easisest way to do this, I think, would be by having a osc to midi bridge, which then sends to jack. In jack I can connect everything. Do you know of any souch software for linux? Actually any osc related software for linux would be great.

thanks ;)

You can use mididings as an OSC to midi bridge (http://das.nasophon.de/mididings/), it uses jack also.

Then you can use puredata, which also uses jack. When you mention Android, I guess you've seen TouchOSC?

Under the pure data heading there's a bunch of example patches for connecting the default TouchOSC templates.

Thank you.

Yes, I've been checking out TouchOsc, but since it doesn't support customizable layouts, I've been trying to set up ControlOsc and Fingerplay Midi. Fingerplay midi actually works great with it's default server, I just want it to send osc messages.
Will look at pd patches, it looks like it's what I've been looking for.

TouchOSC supports customizable layouts. You just create one with the editor... http://hexler.net/docs/touchosc-editor
