what do you use for a soundcard ?
What are your settings for capture and mic/line in gain ?

ice1712 chip set... Tarratec DMX6Fire..
input at 0, just using guitar volume.
I was using it without IR files. now I'm using IR files and it sounds amazing.... no distortion, just amp, noise shaper all the way to the right and fuzz all the way to the right and cranked to 1.

edit:
WOW!!!!
I'm using the input volume as a gain like on a Marshall and the output and the master volume...sweet....
just need a noisegate there that's controllable... No need for the distortion, the fuzz sounds better...

well, good to hear.

I for myself use inputgain at 3/4 value from the mixer for capture and line in. Why do you set your capture gain to 0 ? Don't you loos some power this way ?

anyway, it seem's I cant make the noise shaper static, so I need to add some controlls for it ?

hi

I have set the gain in unit be for the noise shaper, so you can adjust it to different input levels. Please check if you be able to produce nice output also without a IR file now, or if we realy need a controller for the noise sharper ? I prefor it static because it use mutch less CPU when no controller is involved. This way the most needed variables could calculate at init time once and didn't need to recalculate any more.

I get a nice preamp tone kinda like what you get when you run Amplitube or the other vsts without the cab-sim. You know the fuzzy tone which from reading and from some of the amp-sim forums for guitar I've joined says. They say get a nice fuzzy or distorted tone then add the IR file.

I think trying to mimic an amp without a cab-sim IR would be a lot of work.
I like what guitarix sounds like with IR files. I just need to figure of how to get less bottom end from the low strings.
They lose definition.

I've tried to get a working sound without IR files but nothing sounds like an amp. Sounds like a great distortion box plugged directly to a soundcard..

hi

so, okay, I have move back the gain in slider to act after the tubes. Therefor I have made the noise_sharper configurabel now.
I just need to figure of how to get less bottom end from the low strings.
Have you ever try to run guitarix with the input volume set to (minus) - 40 and high out put volume ?

will be checking the fatboy out later... :D
hey, the ladspa version of guitarix works differently to the standalone.

I get no humming noise using the ladspa and the distortion sounds better.
On the other hand, we have more of the controls like fuzz, noise-shaper which the ladspa doesn't have.

fat boost... controls needed for it to cut back on the bass but it's sweet.
the guitarix is sounding better but I get the massive hum only with the standalone. As I play, the hum is gone but as soon as I stop, it hums like crazy.
I get no noise from the ladspa version. Also, I like looks too. the bigger controls are a bonus.

I set the bass boost to +10db instead +20db

Hum . . . , a noise gate is coming, . . . . :D

I just need to workout the controllers for it, will commit it tonight. :) So you can check it out tomorow.
I have made it with a smoth close and a fast open circuit. I wrote a note here when I have commit it.
