looks like I missed out on some stuff while I was sleeping but it builds now... Haven't tried it out yet..
Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
what should you look for ? nothing, just update your source code because I added a bug fix.
The bug was: when you selected /impulse/copy as the jconv mode, it would be saved in the jconv settings but not be read again next time you opened the jconv dialog. You therefore always fell back to /impulse/read even though you wanted /impulse/copy.
That's what I fixed in svn@266.

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
hey brummer, on the tone side of things, I've noticed that when the distortion is on, we lose tons of volume, dynamics, and punch. Adding compression becomes overkill.
Is there a way in the chain to have the distortion come before the amp? kinda like a real setup.
I like what the preamp sounds like without the distortion except for the bassiness. If the distortion came before the preamp, then the distortion would act as a boost or a thickener..
Just like a real amp and pedal setup..

Hi funkmuscle
at least the effect chains will be moveable, but that will take some time . .
for now you can controll the output gain from the disstortion unit, you can set down the input gain in the amp and set high the output gain from the disstortion. Make sure that you have open the high/low cut and pass, when you set vibrato to a low level, the low frequencies will be a bit more clear.
also play a bit with the (distortion) level value when you use preamp and tubes,

I just found that there are debian packages for amd64 for MUSIX packed from José A. González

Hi funkmuscle
I have made some tweaks in the audio engine, could you please check out if you feel a diff in the sound, proberly not, those tweaks are only for optimize the loop (reduced the CPU useage).

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
when you switch from jackd1 to jackd2 you must make sure that you remove all files from jackd1 befor install jackd2. Otherwise there is the danger that jackd2 try to use a lib from jackd1.
jackdmp 1.9.3 work well here.

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
been using jackd2 for sometime but it was updated to 1.9.3...
Arch won't let me run both at the same time for that reason you mentioned.
I will downgrade to 1.9.2 again.
revision 270 builds fine. will try it a bit later today.

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
jack-1.9.3 works amazing here now... the build in the Arch repo had dbus enabled. rebuild without it and it runs.
onto guitarix... sounds the same.. no change.

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
revision 272 sound nice... noisy but nice. I turned off oversample and distortion, fuzz selector to middle and crank it to 1.0.
warmer tube tone... kinda like Eric Clapton's tone on Sunshine of You Love.

hi
nice to hear that, yea the non oversampled tube2 is the oscillate one.
The fuzz was befor a simple hardcut, I have change it now to a softcut followed by a hardcut, that sounds a way better I meen. when you set it to 1.0 the hardcut is off and only the softcut act a bit. To the noise, here could the compressor help, when you run it with low levels it act like a matched filter. Anyway, I will desing a seperate matched filter to reduced side noise.

hi
have set a noise_shaper befor the amp, it's based on a compressor algoritmus, check out please rev@ 275
