Various ideas

Post by briandc »

Someone on the Ubuntu-Studio newsletter today asked for a website where people can post their jam sessions (not just complete songs). I thought he had a point. Personally I like making "ideas." Occasionally an idea becomes a full song, although the latter often doesn't happen, either because I don't have ideas of how to finish it, or because I decide to work on other things, or whatever. Either way, I love to have feedback, if anyone wants to give it! ;)

So, I'd like to dedicate this thread to sharing jams. I'll post several of my own here; feel free to take anything I make and rearrange it, if it inspires you!

This first idea is very simple, made with some sounds that inspired me in Yoshimi, extra patches mentioned elsewhere by AutoStatic. The bass chords are two simple open fifths, that reminded me of a person's rhythmic breathing during sleep. On top, I added another Yoshimi voice that sounded "foreign" or "indian" or "drone."

It's nothing complicated. I just wanted to play with sound.

It's all very different from the rock-type stuff I usually play around with.

Hope it's useful, if nothing else, for falling asleep at night! :D

Update: I couldn't upload .ogg or .mp3 files, so here's the link from my site: http://www.ahigherway.net/youarethetemp ... Sleeps.mp3

PS. How do I upload files?

Ok, I get it now..

I'll use my Dropbox space! :)

Here's another quick "playing around" with a bass on a rhythm section, nothing complicated, just obnoxious:

Here's a little intro from back in June, done with QSynth; just a passing thought...

A new "thought" (as it's snowing here in the greater Milan area of Italy) using (of course) amSynth, a phaser and delay in Carla, and Hydrogen, also running through the phaser:
