Putting Ardour 3b5 through it's paces!

Post by i2productions »

I'm actually REALLY impressed with the way this is going. Thank god the wife took the kids to her parents house for 2 weeks. I actually get unimpeded time to work on music and test cool stuff out!

I've wanted to do a remix/rock/metal version of Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic "16 Tons". I spent 14 solid hours yesterday and last night trying to get this right. I still need to line some of the vocals up better, but I think it's coming out pretty awesome, please leave me feed back!

Also, if anyone's interested to see, my workflow and all the stuff I have loaded to make this happen!

Greetings,

Hey, I do that song as a solo. Great tune. :)

Your vocal can come to the front a bit more. I'd also adjust levels - and MIDI velocity values - for some dynamic variety throughout the piece.

I use a MIDI sequencer that allows the creation of a separate tempo track. I can create a tempo map with variances at the 64th note level, makes it easy to add time-varying expression to a piece. A3 is great, but I think it misses that neat facility.

And you're right, you need to sync the vocal a bit better at some points.

So, only 14 hours into it, eh ? ;) Well, you said you're not done yet, so buck up, get back into the saddle, and slap that sucker into shape. You're almost home. :)

Best,

dp
