Re: Jconv amp/cab sample
I will check that with my system, hopefully tonight. Strangely enough, I had the win32 VST version of zynaddsubfx performing way better through dssi-vst than the linux version!!!!
As the French say: "c'est le monde à l'envers!"

Re: Jconv amp/cab sample
it's seems that once a windows version is made, it works better than the original linux.
dunno if more time spent on the windows versions to impress the Gates loyalists or what...

Yeah that gives me a bad feeling in my stomach... and we should forbid them to make it run better on Windows!funkmuscle wrote:it's seems that once a windows version is made, it works better than the original linux.

But we shouldn't exaggerate this...
we talk about just three apps afaik: zynaddsubfx and lmms and audacity
Maybe Thorgal will experience more problems with the zynaddsubfx vst when he uses it longer
maybe he is a bit to optimistic cause it's new...

Re: Jconv amp/cab sample
maybe... true it's only a few because hydrogen doesn't work well on windows and I love that.
I would love for linux apps to work on all platform if the windows and mac devs would show some respect to linux especially mac.
Everyone that's I've emailed to have their free apps either be open sourced or ported to linux and they all say no....
Yeah, I've beaten that horse enough.....

hehe, this is slowly turning into linux vs the rest of the worldstudio32 wrote: Maybe Thorgal will experience more problems with the zynaddsubfx vst when he uses it longer

as far as I am concerned, I rarely use soft synths, I just needed something that I vaguely remembered zynaddsubfx had (Space Choir 1, in the Fantasy bank). So I opened zyn (debian packaged version). I forgot my jack setup was in a low latency mode (64 frames/period @ 96kHz). So I started to switch banks and fiddle around with zyn, and wow, tons of xruns, zombification, etc. I was quite surprised. I checked the CPU usage and that seemed to be quite high for my relatively powerful system. Then, out of curiosity, I picked the win32 VST version (beta), opened it up with dssi-vst (vsthost). None of these problems occured, bank switching was smooth, almost glitch free experience, CPU usage normal to low. Something must be screwed with the linu xversion. Anyway, at the end of the day, I got the sound I wanted, I don't care too much about the rest. Thanks for dssi-vst, it saved me one more time
OK, enough BS, I will try guitarix soon.
Brummer, did you know about the details Fons A. gave me (zita-convolver) ?

Re: Jconv amp/cab sample
Yes, I have contact Fons befor I start with the GUI support for jconv in guitarix. I now that the engine is the zita-convolver. Also I have already read the source.Brummer, did you know about the details Fons A. gave me (zita-convolver) ?
But, for now, it make no sence for me to use it direct, as Fons pointed out, there is no realtime controll
for the convolver engine(that make it so nice in CPU and mem useage), also if you use it direct. It spare (me) a lot of time to use jconv instead.
Also, the *.conf files guitarix produce, you can use otherway with jconv. If I use zita-convolver direct, you dont get them.
Let me know what you think about guitarix now, compressor, overdrive, jconv widget, new preamp, . . .
