Re: lmms help? please..
you can still get it without the key, just asks you to confirm you want to carry on even though its unverified, alternatively you could just go here http://ppa.launchpad.net/tobydox/ppa/ub ... in/l/lmms/
and get the deb file.
and get the deb file.

Re: lmms help? please..
ok, I downloaded the .deb from the site. put it on my desktop and double clicked. it supposedly was installed, but when I go to open the program it says something about there not bieng any files or information or something. it has a red circle with a white line going through it over to the left of the text. Am I supposed to download something else as well? what do I need? thank you
Re: lmms help? please..
Is the program added to the menu ? if yes then the program has been installed but has some problem.. run lmms from the command line you'll get more information of what is happening. If not then it could be an installation problem possibly due to you must be root in order to install a .deb package and I'm not sure whether you are asked to introduce a password to become root when you double-click on a .deb package from desktop.

Re: lmms help? please..
the program is on the drop down menue. I don't really know how to use command line that efficiently, can some one give me some link or info about learning command line? I cant get it using the software sources because I can't find an option to let me install without the key! I can't find it? Do I have to do it through command line? thanks
Re: lmms help? please..
victory is mine! I have finally got it to work! I am going to post a how to for linux ignorant people such as myself, but I'm learning!
this guide is for ubuntu I did it in 8.10 with Gnome, I imagine other verrsions and desktops have a similar process
first go here https://launchpad.net/~tobydox/+archive/ppa
select your version of ubuntu from the drop down list
copy the .deb code
ex for ibex, if you are using intrepid or 8.10 you can just copy the below
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tobydox/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tobydox/ppa/ubuntuintrepid main
next open system, go admin, then open software systems
go to third party software and click add
then paste the above in the link. after that it will ask you to refresh, click yes and it probably won't let you install due to no openpgp key, so close that window
next go to system, go admin, than open synaptic package manager
in the search type lmms, version .4.3 or the most current at the time should appear
check both files, and it will ask you to mark them for instillation due to no openpgp key, do it
install and enjoy!
