I've been developing some plugins for linux audio applications, designed mainly to work with Ardour and the jack audio server, but they will also work with other 'jack' aware applications, they're free to download - have a look at http://www.linuxdsp.co.uk
These are aplications I initially developed for my own use and I've made them available in case anyone else should find them useful, the site is updated regularly and more stuff will be added soon.

Re: Plugins for linux audio applications
At the moment they are 'jack clients' - that is, if you are running a DAW such as Ardour which uses the jack audio server then you start the 'plugin' and it registers its inputs and outputs with the jack server - you then use either Ardour or a patch application (there's one on my website) or qjackctl to connect the inputs / outputs into the audio path. LADSPA unfortunately does not provide a method for doing the kind of GUI that I wanted and as yet neither does LV2 - but this solution works for me, its a bit like using real outboard equipment that you patch into your mixing desk using a patchbay. I hope to provide some kind of interface to LADSPA or LV2 soon.

use inserts in ardour tracks / busses since these plugins are external standalone fx.
