I have the usb sound card above. And I don't want to use Windows.
So i decided to write my own driver.
What to start with?
Can you advice some books (in pdf) or articles that can help?
Can I transform Mac driver I already have to Linux one? I also have a driver for WinXP, but OSX is BSD-based system, with closed code, but OSX has similar architecture to Linux.
I have Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid.
Thanx in advance.

Great idea. I think it belongs in the developers section of this board though...

Hi!
What kind of articles are you looking for? Alsa driver programming? Why don't you have a look at the existing (alsa-usb) drivers?

Re: Creative E-Mu 0202 USB driver writing
There is a informative article on writing Linux device drivers at the Free Software Magazine link below, but it is not working at the moment as FSF seems to be down.
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/art ... page=0%2C1
Also, the link below is about writing UDev rules, which I had to do for my sound card at some point.
http://reactivated.net/writing_udev_rules.html
Not sure how much of these you need to know, depends on how well your device is detected and proprietary from USB Audio standard.
Happy diggin!
