no as it was released previous to midi, but midi isn't why you would want it, its the fact it will make sounds like no other synth out there.

how much does a beast like that consume in power compared to say a laptop that can emulate its sounds reasonably well ?

i'm guessing alot of power usage. the sound can maybe be emulated reasonably, but that difference is enough to make music made with it stand out.
