I came across this forum/wiki in one of my Google powered troubleshooting endeavors. I have dabbled in Linux here and there since I was a kid tinkering with old computers, but did use it for audio/music tasks until about 2 years ago when I found out about Ubuntu Studio. I have since been trying to migrate from my Windows habits to Linux. It took a little getting used to not having commercial audio software that tried to be everything in one program like Abelton Live or Adobe Audition but once I got my head wrapped around how jack and some linux audio apps worked there was no turning back. I am a recent college grad without much money so I love all the free software that the community has generated, but I am really getting into the FOSS idealism. I am a programmer and web developer by day, so I understand all the hard work that goes into the plethora of software available. I hope to someday delve into the development and support side of the equation to help the community out.
I still dual boot my laptop because I use XP for Team Fortress 2 and other games, because 3D ATI support in Linux is still birthing. Also my printer doesn't fully work in Linux either. While I have come to like jack/ardour/hydrogen very much for music creation, I still find myself using Adobe Audition for mixing/mastering some live stuff I do. I am still trying to familiarize myself with the greatness that Audacity has to offer.
I have an old Thinkpad T22 setup with 64Studio for live performance. I run jack, specimen, and AMSynth on it with an M-Audio keyboard. It is a great instrument next to my big keyboard and guitar when I play with Chosen Robot.

I look forward to hanging out here and maybe doing some collaboration in the rehearsal room with some of you.
