firewire expresscard?

Post by onno »

Hello,

I'm running Ardour on a desktop machine with a Terratec phase 88 FW audiointerface which is working fine. But I want to go mobile, so I want to buy a notebook.
It's very difficult to find a notebook with the right specs that has a firewire connector.
So I want to know if anyone has experience runnning a firewire interface via an expresscard. Is it even possible to get your audiointerface running smoothly.

thnx,

There are reports on the FFADO mailing list of firewire expresscards working. I just ordered one with the TI chipset that was reported to work.
