I know about this project, it's a fork of fst.
I've been in discussin with the author, and some time later a festige version will come out that uses fsthost as backend.

The project has some nice fixes not present in fst, like proper time-pos support, and using the main-thread to do all GUI stuff (makes some previously broken plugins work now).
It's my goal to make it work on KXStudio some time soon

Some newbie questions:

Should I install fsthost and festige? Would vst that cant run in fst mode (under festige) work under fsthost?.
Is there any GUI interface for fsthost?. Ive already installed it and I cant find it under any menu!!.

festige will use his own internal fst backend whatever you do, it doesn't support fsthost in any way (yet).

well, I can use fsthost 1.0 with festige as the binary has the same name as fst

Have you tried it?
I have my doubts it will work, specially under ladish (save will kill the plugins).

ladish I don't use yet, but yes VSTIs work with festige and fsthost
