OK... Keeping a look out

This is my big problem now: I cannot change the jack parameters in Claudia. They appear to have been saved. They have been saved: I can see in the .config/jack file, but when it is all restarted, it is back to ?default? values. At least it remembers which driver to use so it works.

Where is that stuff from the first settings screen saved? I need to change the self-connect settings. Can't find that anywhere.

The safest way to ensure the settings are properly saved is to stop the studio, configure jack, start studio and save it.

I really don't know, having tried "everything" how I missed that combination. I think I did get it, once, but had not realised the formula that had led to my isolated success.

(gladish GUI doesn't actually allow to configure jack while a studio is loaded).

But Claudia appears to --- which has caused me quite a lot of wild goose chasing!

grep tells me that claudia has a --minimized --- and it works . Nice.

Maybe the first post in this thread should be updated. It still says :

Should I use 32bit or 64bit?
If your computer supports 64bit - use it!
The new Ubuntu 12.04 now properly supports muti-arch, which means that you can now even install a 32bit deb package in a 64bit system. Also, most libraries are now multi-arch ready, Flash runs in 64bit, Wine works too, there's no real reason not use it.
(KXStudio is missing lmms+vst and dssi-vst packages on 64bit right now, but they will be re-added at some time)

I'm needing that EQ to even hear HF stuff, but you can be assured I keep volumes low. Thing is, I haven't listened to music at anything like damaging volumes except for rock concerts forty years ago. At that time I was also chucking around pieces of steel, working in factories. None of that was a good idea.

At 60, it would take a miracle to make it any better now, but yes, I am certainly not going to do anything to make it worse.

I'd join in the message: youngsters, take care of your hearing. There are no dentures for the ears (ok, there are hearing aids, but they are not made for music lovers). Once damaged, it is damaged for ever. It is going to get less with age anyway, do not add to that or accelerate the process. My ENT man confirms that neither age-related hearing loss nor noise-induced damage are going to have any practical remedy, at least in my lifetime.

All advice gratefully received. But I really do keep those levels modest, even for rock music. Nothing like as loud as the PA systems at the concerts I regularly attend --- and those are classical Indian music!

Yes it is.

I see that there is a new Welcoime Script arrived with the updates. Does that need to be run on an existing KXStudio setup?

Let me try it another way: do I have to run it again because it is an updated version?
