Just released my first album

Post by zwenny »

Hi everybody,

I've just released my first album: Disappointed (Third Try). It's completely done with open source.
You can listen to, download and share it on Jamendo. If you like, feel free to remix it. It's Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 - BY-NC-SA licensed and if you need single tracks or other related stuff just send me a private message.
Some things like lyrics, a chords sheet and all cover art are already available, furter will follow. Stay tuned to my blog. I'd like to provide every ressource and documentation to be 100% open source

Nice work!

As a note on you wanting it to be 100% open source. One thing I've been thinking about is that we really need some better guides on getting started with using Linux for creating music (and other cool stuff). Something like video guides accompanied with complete projects/sessions, so that people really can get started instead of getting stuck.
Ever noticed something?
Unix comes with compilers.
Windows comes with solitaire.

That's a great idea, but this project is not really good for such an comprehensive approach (among others, because it's created primary with Audacity), but i'm already working on my documentation for the creating process and write some HowTo and Experiences here and at my blog (in german).
I will keep in mind your idea of creating video guides about creating music with open source software for my next album. So stay tuned here.

If you can't wait, you may read the Making Of XBloome's Album "X marks the Spot". This band went the linux and open source way before me and made me feel vindicated in creating a 100% open source album.
