Sound Card Motu 8 pre with Linux

Post by Obrero »

Hi, good ... I have several problems with windows and I want to switch to using Ubuntu. Now, use the sound card Motu 8 pre and what is seen only works with windows and mac. Does anyone know if there is a possibility of drivers so you can use the plate with Ubuntu? By the way, I also use the keyboard midi Novation Remote 61 SL.
Greetings ...

Motu probably will never work in linux, the Novation midi ports might.
If you get a midi interface with 5pin midi connectors, some devices won't
work correctly if there is also a usb connection, so you'll have to experiment.
There is a list of devices here somewhere, that people are successfully using.

links to some other hardware lists. NI Komplete Audio 6 maybe worth checking,
and someone has an Alesis model working.

There has been some effort to support this interface with ffado, but there hasn't been an update from the developers since 2010.

I haven't used ffado, but it may be worth a try to see what works. It would be useful if you can let us know.

Motu have not been too helpful in providing information for Linux developers and so their hardware is not generally well supported.
