A few pieces over on soundcloud...

Post by luster »

I have been 100% linux for many years.

I put up some recent experimental fractal-based musics over on soundcloud

These were created on an UbuntuStudio 10.04 LTS AMD64 bit installation running on a dual-core 3.2GHz AMD processor with 8GB RAM.

The software utilized was qjackctl, zynaddsubfx loaded with various non-twelve-tone scales, Pd-extended running some patches I wrote and some I altered (the altered, mainly from billystiltner's Pd "fractal sequencer patch", hydrogen drum synth loaded with an acoustic drumset, an old midi keyboard running through a game-port on a soundblaster live card, and a few sacrificial brain-cells lol, all recorded via audacity.

The few pieces labeled "fractal music" are 100% process, with no live hands-on alteration; and the rest are a hybrid mix, including some hands-on alterations accomplished via the midi keyboard. On all pieces, there were some post-processing adjustments, such as hand-editing sporadic clipping, amplification/deamplification, adding fades and some pitch- and time-shifting at starts and ends. All of these are released under a creative commons 'attribution' license.

Please take a moment to listen and take time to comment with suggestions, or otherwise, as you see fit.

Very interesting. I really liked "Another plumbing dream". :-)
Ever noticed something?
Unix comes with compilers.
Windows comes with solitaire.
