does the vox usb input show up in the output of these commands?
arecord -l
cat /proc/asound/cards
aconnect -i
using or creating a clean Vox patch without amp sim, cab sim, and fx,
might help in attaining the intended tone from Guitarix2, Rakarrack,
lms, calf, invada, mda, and ladspa fx. Then add the hardware sweets as desired
When a usb audio device is not in use, Periods/Buffer can be 2.

Hey Slowpick,
No, Ubuntu's only finding the High Definition device. It's OK for now though; even raising the latency to allow for plugins, I can get 11ms plugging straight in anyway. I'm starting to see the beauty of Jack; to get that kind of performance in Windows you can't have anything else running, much less audio applications.
I'm really happy with my VSTs (Simulanalog & Poulin just slay my Vox Tonelab, I love them.)
But how do you rout Linux effects to a track in Reaper? If I could use Hydrogen as a kind of VSTi, I'd be thrilled. Combining a drum machine with a step-sequencer is genius, can't believe the paid programs won't do that.
Good to know I can lower the periods to 2, will do.
Cheers,
m.
