Does some of you have experience with LV2? I read a bit about it at ##linuxaudio today... a follow up of LADSPA...

Is it already ready for use? Is it easy to use?

Are you talking code-specific or use-specific?

Code) The design is entirely different. The site basically explains that well, but in layman terms it's more appropriate to be called "modular" in a sense that you have a unified framework; less work for plugin coders.

Use) You need a host of course. Currently I know of only Traverso that has the full support. Make sure to build it --with-lv2 (or similar, forgot). I didn't initially and was totally clueless as to why I couldn't select any plugin. Works perfect, no hiccups for the while I had used Traverso. Promising app, like Ardour with an entirely different interface targeting human nature instead of machine

thanks, I'll try Traverso... http://traverso-daw.org/
Is lv2/ traverso also usable as guitar effect processor?

Nah, not entirely, though most LADSPA/LV2 plugins can be counted as effects. But interesting question, with LV2 design maybe it's possible to deliver an entire suite of live (realtime) instrument effects like creox in any host with Ardour-like sends/inserts. Tough job. Well, we'll have too see

Ardour has also LV2 support...

Indeed, if LV2 is an improvement of LADSPA, I surely like to see a app which can function as a guitar amp...

In the summer there will be a new release of Ingen, maybe is that app usable....

Hmm that may be it..never used Ingen before though, I usually use effects from gear and not computer.
