Benchmarking - How to gather metrics from JACK

Post by msepsis »

QJACKctl offers some nice up to the moment info and statistics on your CPU load.

To make that info more useful, especially when tuning a system, I'm curious
can the CPU load can be logged somehow, either within qjackctl or something else?

I would love to be able to start JACK, let it run for X number of minutes, stop the JACK server then see a report for the duration JACK was running that shows:

number of XRuns (if any) during duration
the mean/average CPU load
Highest load during duration
Lowest load during duration
Possibly even the mode (number repeated the most times)

This is only a partial answer - you can start jackd with a -v option and get a periodic printouts of cpu (dsp) usage. Also the QJackCtl Messages->Status tab gives some summary info.
