Säkert sant, music in swedish

Post by spamatica »

Hi folks,

haven't posted music here before, I hope I found the right place for it.

Anyway, I completed a new piece some days ago, as is usual for me it is created with MusE and a bunch of plugins.
It's available at http://spamatica.se/periri/ and is called "Säkert sant".

Do let me know what you think.

Regards,
Robert

Hi Robert,

wow ! This is quite an amazing track. Hard to define in a way because it is evolving through different styles and atmospheres but definitely not boring !

I don't know MusE I thought it was some old piece of software according to some screenshots I saw here and there but it still seems a powerful beast or at least you know how to make it sound great

Nice one !

Hi,

Thanks for the flowers! I'm quite pleased myself with how it turned out. :) It is somewhat cross genre as you point out, not sure that is entirely a good thing, I had fun doing it though!

As to MusE, I'm somewhat biased as I'm one of the developers, it's indeed one of the oldest sequencers but it is actively developed and works very well for me. We've moved to Qt4 recently and the next release (soon) will have a bit more polished look.

yeah I guess you must have a lot of fun doing this.
Is it a bit eclectic ? Yeah. So what ? At least it is original and still good to the ear.

Anyway it made me want to try MusE again and I must say I was pleased with what I saw, the QT4 version is indeed much more polished than the old 1.x MusE series used to be.
I found it quite convenient to use and play.

I just found it a little bit too limited when it comes to editing midi controllers curves/values.
It was able to record actions from my midi controller quite well but I was only able to edit existing curves/values not to draw new ones with the pencil where there were no previous values. Also only registered midi controllers appears, I couldn't find out how to add controller 12 for example.
In general I find midi sequencers very limited when it comes to editing midi controllers curves/values but it can be very useful to do some automation with soft synths or effects hosts that support midi learn.

Maybe a niche for MusE to develop in the future ?
