Guitarix doesn't start...

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Guitarix doesn't start...

Post by Reded »

Hey all!

I've recently downloaded Guitarix, I figured I'd give it a try after not really liking the sounds on Rakarrak.
However, when I click the icon to start the program, nothing happens!

It appears in my System Monitor, however that's about as much as I get from it. Only thing I can think to do is kill the process here and try again, but nothing.

I've tried un-and-re-installing it to no avail.

Using Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit, I've got Jack installed with the QJackctl.

Any help appreciated, thanks a lot!

Witch version number do you talk about, and were do you "download" it ?
guitarix is available in the ubuntu repository and also in some ppa's for install with synaptic, for example.
make sure you have installed the 64 bit version.

to get a information what goes on, start guitarix in a terminal with
guitarix -t
and post the output here.

I installed it straight from Software Centre, as well as trying it through Synaptic - There's only one version in Synaptic so I'm not sure how I can make sure I have the 64-bit!

I'll try terminal, 2 secs...

Terminal worked, oddly enough!

Running it by clicking the icon seems to still get the result above though...

Fairly sure I made a newbie mistake -

Opened QjackCTL first as opposed to waiting for the program to open it for me. Worked when I did that

As far I know the guitarix jack starter didn't work well for the ubuntu pulseaudio -> jackd settings. So jack fail to start. Solution can be to remove pulseaudio.
