Dead Again - I think it's called.

Hi all,
I think the song is called 'Dead Again' by William Orbit (????) - but it's the song from the beginning of American Beauty and is played throughout the film at various places.
There's a sound in there that sounds a little like a slowed sown Sitar or most certainly a stringed instrument - it's probably sampled or synthetic, but I was wondering how to recreate that sound or something similar if anyone knows how.
EDIT: Ha - I was close, it's actually called "Dead Already" by Thomas Newman.
