64Bit Linux
So, I have a 64Bit compatible processor but I have been running 32Bit and I was just wondering if there are any complications with Audio software and a 64Bit distro. I don't know why I haven't ever switched to 64Bit but I plan to for the next version of Mandriva when it is available. Thanks for the help everyone!

I have never run 32bit so I can't give you much of a comparison between the two. Right now the only thing I feel like I'm missing out on is wine support. I've never had much luck getting apps in wine to work with Jack. Supposedly it should work, but I've never really been that motivated to run Windows apps on my Linux machine.

Re: 64Bit Linux
Wine works fine on 64bit. The problem I had was with wineasio and getting 32bit windows apps to work with it. I'm sure somebody has it working but it's not something I felt like wasting a lot of time with considering the reward wouldn't be that significant.

you need 32bit wineasio and 32bit jack to make it work. 32bit jack only works together with 64bit Jack1 (not Jack2)SR wrote:Wine works fine on 64bit. Re: 64Bit Linux
So, let me get this right. If I buy the new 64bit Mandriva when it comes out I will be able to emulate 32bit in wine to run my existing apps? And Jack won't have any issues? Or is it the other way around? :/ I'm so confused now.

Re: 64Bit Linux
ok, I mixed things up.....when I did this there was no 32bit-jack2-package in ArchfalkTX wrote:Say what?Capoeira wrote:you need 32bit wineasio and 32bit jack to make it work. 32bit jack only works together with 64bit Jack1 (not Jack2)
I've been using 32bit/64bit mixed mode with JACK2 for ages in KXStudio (since Lucid has been released).
You just need to compile it right.
Matt, with 32bit libs you can run any 32bit-app on a 64bit system
