I have been using various Linux distributions to record music through an old Zoom S2t for a few years. It is a friends and I would like to purchase my own audio interface. I am quite interested in the Echo AudioFire8 interface as it is supposed to be fully supported in FFADO. However, there isn't much information on these interfaces, and it doesn't seem to matter where I look, everywhere I turn I get different information.
The reason I am so interested in the AudioFire8 is:
1) It is fairly portable.
2) It is supposed to sound great.
3) It is supposed to have very low latency.
4) it has a good number of inputs / outputs.
5) Supposed to be fully supported in Linux via FFADO.
I know that many people hate on firewire, however, for the type of projects I work on, it would be so much easier if I had extremely low latency. I am fairly unfamiliar with firewire stuff in Linux, so I would love some input in on my buying decision.
I guess my big question is, is anybody aware of how successful people have been with getting the audiofire8 to work in linux? I dont mind doing some work to get it going if I know that there is a doable process.
I would be willing to consider a different interface if I knew I could get low latency and great sound out of it for roughly the same price ($400ish). I would even consider a USB interface.
Thanks for reading my long-winded explanation of what I am doing! I appreciate your time!
