Several tunes made with din

Post by Louigi Verona »

Hey guys!

It's been a while since I've posted here. As some of you know, for the last week I have been exploring din, a great instrument (www.dinisnoise.org). You can read my short article about it here: http://www.louigiverona.ru/?page=projec ... =linux_din

But anyway, I managed to make some music using din. In some tracks din would be the main thing, in some - only one of the instruments, but none of these tracks would be possible without din.

http://www.louigiverona.ru/files/grassisgreen.ogg
A tune about lying on the grass and watching the blue sky. Very simplistic, even banal theme, however I like how the tune nevertheless creates an atmosphere which I think many people can relate to.

http://www.louigiverona.ru/files/din2.ogg
My first public din tune.

http://www.louigiverona.ru/files/train.ogg
Riding on a train.

http://www.louigiverona.ru/files/din001.ogg
Playing with din drones, vocoder and hydrogen.

http://www.louigiverona.ru/files/evening.ogg
I cannot say I am 100% happy with this tune, but it does show nice lead work on din. No effects used, clean din.

Enjoy!

nice high altitude zoning (greengrass) :)

I looked into jaaa, noticed quite some high freq noise with a big gap in between audible and non-audible freq:

I also listened to it in my headphones at work. There is some hissing sound all along the track. Was any filtering applied ? or was it the conversion to ogg ?

Ha! Hissing is absolutely intentional and comes from a field recording of wind ;)

ps: I listened on speakers and see what you mean. I will see if I can correct this because it does sound like simple hiss. it is from a wind sample but it ain't pretty ;) thank you for spotting!

much better :)
You also have widened the freq gap (nothing between ~9K to ~ 43K. still some crap above ~ 43K).

Very cool stuff, Louigi ! You're a good advertiser for DIN, the author should link to your pieces as demonstrations of the synth's capabilities.

Best,

Awesome music man, really good. Reminds me of the Sacred Spirit albums. http://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Spirit-Cha ... B000009CIO
