Should I advise newbies to use Ubuntu Studio 8.04.1 or 8.10?

Re: Ubuntu Studio 8.04.1 or 8.10?
As detailed in this thread, I'm experiencing problems with MIDI performance.studio32 wrote:Should I advise newbies to use Ubuntu Studio 8.04.1 or 8.10?
Though it's possible to use 8.10 with the 8.04 kernel, and that much improves MIDI performance, it introduces other problems (like my wireless network card going unavailable after suspend).
It pains me to say it, but I think I'd recommend 8.04 until the MIDI performance in 8.10 is solved.

I adviced a newbie to install the normal ubuntu 8.04.1 version and change that to an Ubuntu Studio.
I thought it will give a newbie the biggest change that Ubuntu will work and you have also a generic kernel, which could be useful if the rt kernel doesn't work for some reason.
What do you think of this?
