Has anyone had a chance-if they went to the NAMM 20011 to look up the KITARA !

As usual the big players took up all the space an infos..even on the specialized websites

In any event scanty infos can be found at:
http://www.gearwire.com

http://www.musicradar.com

This digital guitar is based on LINUX...and look ma, no strings...Aready in production(in Hong Kong)-first delivery April 2011 and street price $849 US..
You can control you synth-so playing the guitar and controlling your synth=
via the guitar
It possibly could be used as a bass guitar, portable synth, you could have a 6,7, 12 string guitar etc..
USB port to be available too on it(as an option!)

For more infos(scanty up to now) look up

Also check out misa on FACEBOOK

Note-It appears that they will produce more digital devices

To get the most updated infos go to their Facebook website where you will be able to see additional videos, etc.
also this guitar -synth is ambidextrous;also you can use it as a bass

They will be at the German Music instruments Trade show, the Musikmesse,in Frankfurt in April(6th-9th).Check their updates to confirm this...

Read the KITARA FAQ-the embedded system is Linux kernel 2.6.31-no particular version-fully upgradable via USB
http://midadigital.com the FAQs are under the SUPPORT CAPTION;under COMMUNITY you can go to facbook,Twitter,etc...
Thus their system is open source and a call to the open source community to contribute updates, compatible software etc...,hardwire devices,etc..

They stated is not a replacement of guitars with strings but a digital guitar that can behave like a synth and midi controller..

And here is a recent intervew ;-) It's less on Linux and more on music and cultural aspects though. Not a terrible lot of specs to drool over :)
