ACER ASPIRE 7720G + linux soundcard

Post by PGS »

Hello guys, it's been only a few days that I've migrated to Linux and so far everything is great. I'm a pro musician and sometimes I need to pre record tracks at home and take them to the studio. I've downloaded ardour and it looks like a great solution. I play jazz guitar and clarinet and I record with Gibson les paul Orange amps miced with shure sm 57 and clarinet miced with two matching AKG C414 condenser mics. Can you suggest me a few soundcards for an Acer ASPIRE 7720G that has an intel Core duo processon and 4gb of Ram. I've installed the 64b Kubuntu that runs very smoothly so far.
Thanks in advance and I hope that the Linux experience will turn out for the best for me. If everything goes as good as I think and hope it will I'll record my band's album with Linux and I'll make our studio a LInux based studio. It now has a mac with pro tools.

Hi, and welcome.

What kind of connections does your Acer have? USB, Firewire, ExpressCard?
How many inputs and outputs do you need?

There are lots of threads on different soundcards on the forum. I'd suggest you look for a few soundcards you like, and then check here which ones work well under Linux. There are simply too many cards available on the market nowadays.
