Quick introduction, after posting a couple of system tuning questions. (Thanks to the responders for some very good help, and quick help too!)
I've been a devoted SuperCollider user for years and a recent convert to Linux (about five or six months ago). It was a combination of the general coolness of SuperCollider's Emacs front-end and Apple's conversion from "think different" to "think the way we want you to think" by way of the [cr]app store -- that's what got me to make the jump.
I'm American-born, currently teaching electronic music in Guangzhou, China. My interest in FLOSS makes me something of an exotic bird over here -- definitely a mentality of "if it doesn't have a price tag, it can't be any good" -- but I keep doing my thing and somewhere, somebody's going to see my Ubuntu system and get intrigued...
I'm pretty busy general but will pop in from time to time.
Great resource here! Thanks!
James
