Playback issues with Delta 44

Post by kbuzz »

Been having some issues for a while with some scratchy sounds in the left channel of the mix. This usually happens after a couple minutes in and wont go away until I disable and re-enable the soundcard in yast or something similar.

I've had this happen with many Linux distros and it just wont go away. On the same machine running windows, I get no problems whatsoever. I've checked the IRQs and there doesn't seem to be any conflict there.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

thanks a lot of any help.

I heard a long long time ago that VIA PCI control chipsets can be troublesome. Does your motherboard have any VIA chips near or around the PCI sockets?
That's my first guess.

I don't believe so.

this is my motherboard

in my pci E16x is an ati 5770.

I've had to switch out my sata drive for IDE which solved poor performance in both windows and linux, but now linux is giving me trouble still. I suppose it has something to do with pci latency and the video card being a bully.

Seems like modern system just aren't considering pci sound cards in their design.
