echomixer with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx

Could anyone let me in on "echomixer" which is in my appz.list? I do not seem to be able to run it.
I have a Dell latitude D630 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx
Would it go with my AudioFire12 (firewire) interface at all?
I can not find anything usefull about it on the internet and if I search in Synaptic window it points me at "alsa-tools-gui". I would like something like the "Echo console" I had in windows xp...

Running it at the commandline, I get 'No Echoaudio cards found, sorry'.

Looking with 'dpkg -S `which echomixer`', i find out this executable is part of the alsa-tools-gui package. AFAIK ALSA doesn't support firewire, so I'd guess echomixer won't work with firewire cards. Not sure though.

I think you need ffado-mixer. Look at the software center or synaptic. Not sure if you card is supported by the ffado-mixer though. www.ffado.org is the project that support firewire audio cards in Linux. They know better.

There's a mixer template for the Audiofire devices so I guess ffado-mixer works with those devices.

well my card is working, ti. I can record and playback through it in Ardour. I guess I ave ffado installed but I cannot get the Echomixer working...

I have a audiofire 2 here, works with ffado from svn stable (2.0.1+svn1856-5). The mixer isn't working here...

edit: maybe a firmware downgrade could fix this, I've reported this issue @ ffado

Afaik and as raboof said above, Echomixer won't work in any case because it is not programmed for firewire cards but for alsa supported cards (alsa does not support any firewire card). ffado-mixer is the tool you would need, but listen to Studio32. Anyway, don't miss www.ffado.org if you are using a firewire card...

Seems to work on Ubuntu lucid, old stack, svn stable, the ffado-mixer that is, not alsa echomixer (don't get confused ).
