Soda P - Big Disgrace
No vocals yet and barely any overdubs. I only added an extra guitar in the couplets. Amazing that I can do this at home now, I have this little Teisco combo tube amp from the sixties, plugged in my old Gibson SG (I only own the Cherry, sold the Walnut few years ago), two mics (SM57 and a Studio Projects B1) and wham, just sounds so good. I have to admit though that I'm very fond of my old SG, ok, it's the first SG from the Norlin era and most people think it's ugly but it sounds awesome and has the thinnest neck ever (which I really like because my hands are kinda little).
Also the guitar in the choruses and bridge is still clean (no effects), as opposed to the couplets, I used pretty much reverb there for my taste. We also experimented with different mic settings and I also used my Studio Projects B1 for the bass and guitar this time. It adds some nice extra air (I placed it a bit further than the other mics) and some extra juice in the high freqs. The main guitar used on the recordings is a '77 Fender Telecaster on a London City DEA100 ('70's Dutch Marshall clone, completely revised because it has almost caught fire two times already), bass is a Fender Jazz on a SWR stack.
Everything is recorded on an old Pentium 4 with Ubuntu 10.04 and Qtractor 0.4.6 svn something (so pretty much 0.4.7) and mixed on my Ubuntu 9.10 machine in Qtractor 0.4.7 with various plugins (mainly SC4 and Freeverb) and I ran it through JAMin, even though some people say it's actually a vocoder
