Preamps

Post by studio32 »

Hi,

I've a m-audio audiophile 24/96, and a shure sm 58 beta, a epiphone les paul and a orange crush 30r amp...

Now I'm searching for a good preamp in the range of 100 - 200 euro.

What is a good preamp?

I bought the dmp 3. Should I be alert of something when I gonna use it? The shure sm 58 doesn't need phantom power is it? And if by accident it is using phantom? Will it harm the mic?

other things?

you should know about the gears you buy ;)

the mic you have is a dynamic one, so phantom power is useless on it. It's called phantom because it is "invisible" to gears that do not use it :D

Absolutely, I've had the same worries before because I wasn't aware. But this is true. You can feed every mic you have with the phantom on but it won't even see it if it doesn't need it.
