Might help some mid-tier moviemakers with linux render engines to have a high-end audio card or three, and not rely on a corporate OS 8)

Marian seems to open the way for people who need lots of channels and the connection into the Dante world, and who need Linux support from the manufacturer.

That's great news.

Obviously Marian cards are not for everybody, but the release of an open source Linux driver can show to other companies that there is no risk at doing such a thing.

A business should fear corporate espionage more than open-source driver releases  Company insiders with addiction issues can and do sell off crucial tech...and evil buyers seek out and groom such people. There are lots of people just one supported app or hardware device away from including a linux setup at home/studio/enterprise. Progress is 8)
