Pure Debian Sid

that says it all :)

I started with Ubuntu Studio, was ok at the beginning but it started to become unstable (don't know why). Switched to 64studio, realized it was debian, so I transformed it to a pure debian sid, debian being my favorite linux distro (gave up redhat when it forked to EL and fedora but planet ccrma was not bad at all, a friend of mine happened to convince me that debian was the right choice for many many reasons - don't ask me now, I forgot what he said but I wouldn't change a bit after all this time :D)

I've Debian lenny (testing).

Isn't Debian unstable not to unstable?

funny name, isn't it ? :)

I've been using unstable for many years and really, the only unstable thing I came across regularly is ... me :) If you like bleeding edge stuff, that's a safe bet (not like experimental, this one does not even garanty correct dependencies). My PC is on all the time. The only time I reboot is because I am trying a new kernel (as I said, I am the unstable element!) but that said, I am using stuff well supported by linux (intel stuff in general). Others may not be that lucky with their box and linux compatibility.

Interesting to hear that Debian sid/unstable runs rather stable.
Using lenny/testing I had to fetch some packages from sid (e.g. ardour) which made me think about upgrading, but the term 'unstable' kept me from doing so.
Since everything runs well now, especially the realtime-stuff, I will most likely not change anything now.

This is my solution, a debian lenny/sid mixed system and I have good experience with it using aptitude

Thanks for the link, I followed the instructions and edited /etc/apt/apt.conf to point to APT::Default-Release "testing";
This works fine until now, in case of unmet dependencies in the future I might just upgrade to unstable.
