I am currently on windows but planning on moving to linux and was wondering if anyone knows if the volt 2 is a good audio interface to use. I have seen people say it works fine but some people said ASIO is locked to windows. would this mean it would lag when I use my guitar?

There is no ASIO in the Linux world.

The low latency solution in the Linux world is called JACK or the JACK emulation in pipewire.

If the Volt 2 works with Linux (because ALSA in the kernel knows it) then you can use it with JACK, too.

Do you already own a Volt 2? If so a simple way to check if it works is to download a LIVE ISO image file from some place like UBUNTU, Linux Mint or a multitude or other options, write it to a bootable USB stick or burn to DVB then put that in your computer and boot from it. When the Linux system comes up plug the Volt 2 in and try it out. AFAIK they will work just fine.

There is no different driver for low latency in Linux. It's all good. There are different ways to use the device in Linux and route sound between applications. Either directly through the ALSA driver itself, many DAWs work this way, or with various sound servers such as Jack, Pulseaudio and now Pipewire. As long as the device is supported by the ALSA driver then all other server options are available.

If you don't already have a Volt 2 I might suggest you take a look at the new Focusrite Gen 4 Scarlette 2i2. The specs on these are very impressive assuming they live up to these. I believe the driver for these has just recently gone into the Linux Kernel so some Linux distributions may need to have a update to the kernel for these to work. This is not difficult.
