Everybody has to post something sometime

Seems I'm on endless detours but I come back here, at least once a year. ;)

I found this song I apparently started in October last year. All forgotten about but I liked where it was going so I got inspired to get it "done"!

Hope you like it :)

Good track. Everything done in MusE?

Thanks!

Indeed it is MusE and a number of plugins, mostly various CALF variants and Addictive Drums 2 for the drums. Oh and I think the organ is setbfree.

I wasn't too keen on the intro, but once the singing came in it was much more interesting and I enjoyed it.

Thanks : )
I appreciate the feedback! Though the intro was actually the part that brought me back to working on it again, to each their own? ; )
But I concede the build up is at least too long.

Hey there,

I'm woefully behind down here in the musicians basement and have some catching up to do but glad I didn't miss this!

This song is great! Great Indie pop arrangement that doesn't conform to the current anti-competence trend in so much modern Indie. Great sounds, and the lyrics and vocals are terrific! Addictive Drums shows it's value here as a convincing tool, I also have AD2 and am curious what kit you used? Great work all around, I really enjoyed the listen, thanks for finishing and sharing!

Aww man, thanks!

And, yeah, I am having a hard time finding a Linux alternative to Addictive that I would be happy with, unfortunately... but sometimes you just have to make music.

I think it is a drum patch based on the Vintage Dry kit, there is a bundled patch something like Clean Early 70s or some such that I started from.

What exactly is 'Addictive'? I've never used 'other' systems for music, so am not familiar with it at all.

Addictive Drums - more specifically Addictive Drums 2.
It's a VST drum plugin, one of the best imo. Not linux native (and definitely not open source) but it runs fine with for instance yabridge.

Thanks for the info. I'm not at all up on drums actually, so it probably wouldn't be something I could use. However (from the depth of my ignorance) I'm surprised there's nothing Linux native that doesn't fit the bill.

Well, truth be told it was a while since I last did the rounds. There are a few contenders, not the least gmaq:s own AVL Drumkits and I should checkout where they are today.

You may find my latest 'Blonde Bop' kits are suitable for Rootsy and Indie types of music, I can get similar results to AD2 with my own kits but it helps to be able to use their multichannel 'fan out to tracks' capability as supported by Ardour and Mixbus and I'm not sure if MuSE supports this? This is what is nice about AD2, it allows in-depth adjustments per kit piece even if you just have it on a stereo track..
