xrender

Post by ccernn »

well, the axonlib development speed is absolutely not slowing down, it's accelerating... among other things (internal memory manager, stdlib replacements, highly optimized math and approximations, internal png decoding), we just recently added some xrender functionality for streching and alpha-blending pixmaps, but i'm a little bit uncertain about both how wide-spread xrender is, and the performance on different drivers and setups.. anybody have any experience with this? done any benchmarks? any special cases or issues encountered? any caveats i should watch out for?

or would you suggest i forget about xrender, and go for opengl/glx? in that case, how much work would that be? can opengl and xlib happily coexist? do i need to go all-or-nothing? can i interleave xlib graphic drawing with opengl rendering? to the same surface/pixmap? could i use glitz?

lots of questions, i know... i'm still learning these things, and the documentation and examples are few and far between... and, sorry if this is not the right forum for these kinds of questions.. any pointers to other relevant forums or such?
