M-Audio Radium-49 keyboard: troubleshooting
I've got a M-Audio Radium 49 keyboard. This is a USB-based MIDI controller that has works via the midisport-firmware package. It used to work okay; now it doesn't seem to be picked up by linux at all. I'm assuming that when it's hooked up and turned on there should be some change in the contents of /dev. Is that correct? Is there a better way to check to see where the problem is? The device seems to work okay otherwise: the sliders, keys, etc. all affect the keyboard's LED readout in the normal way. So it seems unlikely that it's a hardware problem.

What does lsusb say? And when did it stop working?
Try unplugging all other usb devices, incl. mouse/keyboard.

lsusb doesn't pick it up either. It's a laptop, so unplugging all other usb devices isn't an option, but I unplugged everything that's actually plugged in (ie all but the builtin devices). Even so, the output of lsusb doesn't change when the keyboard is hooked up.

Hmm. Do you have any other USB ports you can try? Any other devices in the same USB ports do work?intuited wrote:lsusb doesn't pick it up either.
Nothing in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog ?

I had this problem, getting an error message about my udev needing to be 057 or later. To fix this, assuming you have the requisite packages (fxload, midisport), go to the midisport directory and edit the configure file, line 1749 (I think) so that it's looking for udev 1.2 or later. Then run configure, make, and make install. This worked for me.
