What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Cannot compile Yoshimi

Post by Louigi Verona »

During ccmake .
I get this:

Code: Select all

 FLTK_BASE_LIBRARY FLTK_BASE_LIBRARY-NOTFOUND
 FLTK_CONFIG_SCRIPT FLTK_CONFIG_SCRIPT-NOTFOUND
 FLTK_FORMS_LIBRARY FLTK_FORMS_LIBRARY-NOTFOUND
 FLTK_GL_LIBRARY FLTK_GL_LIBRARY-NOTFOUND
 FLTK_IMAGES_LIBRARY FLTK_IMAGES_LIBRARY-NOTFOUND
 FLTK_INCLUDE_DIR FLTK_INCLUDE_DIR-NOTFOUND

fltk dev files are installed but it doesn't seem to help.

During make I get this:

Code: Select all

Hello Louigi, did you install the fluid package already? Can't see all the code, there's no scrollbar on my Android browser. If you installed it already try deleting the yoshimi directory, extract the tarball again and try compiling from there on.

I am having problems compiling yoshimi with cmake. I am recieving the following message:

CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPkgConfig.cmake:259 (message):
A required package was not found
Call Stack (most recent call first):
/usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPkgConfig.cmake:311 (_pkg_check_modules_internal)
CMakeLists.txt:163 (pkg_check_modules)

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:168 (message):
fontconfig>=0.22 required but not found

Any suggestions?

Hey Jeremy, I am using Ubuntu Lucid. I did not have libfontconfig1-dev installed but I do now and am recieving the following error now:

CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:70 (MESSAGE):
Could NOT find FLTK (missing: FLTK_FLUID_EXECUTABLE)
Call Stack (most recent call first):
/usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindFLTK.cmake:304 (FIND_PACKAGE_HANDLE_STANDARD_ARGS)
CMakeLists.txt:172 (find_package)

I have fltk1.1 installed already so I tried installing libfltk1.1-dev to see if that helps but no change...

I noticed you mentioned above about installing FLUID. Are you referring to fluid-soundfont-gm or some other package?

No you need Fluid package itself, that contains the fluid executable. And don't forget to delete the CMakeCache.txt file or the whole source directory before recompiling.
Another option is to get Yoshimi for Lucid from Philip Johnsson' s PPA: http://ppa.launchpad.net/philip5/extra/ ... y/yoshimi/

both - there is fluidsynth and just fluid - but it is some programming editor. Later I uninstalled it since it didn't help anyway and seemed irrelevant.

Ok guys after trying in vein to compile yoshimi from source, I gave up. I installed all the fluid packages and still couldn't get it to go. I eventually got the package installed from the link that autostatic posted and it seems to work but after changing back and forth between a couple different synth voices, it crashes and jack gives me the following output:

subgraph starting at yoshimi timed out (subgraph_wait_fd=18, status = 0, state = Running, pollret = 0 revents = 0x0)

Not sure what's going on here. I installed the 64bit version which works for a bit and then crashes. Jack remains running and so does yoshimi but jack doesn't see it until I close yoshimi and launch it again.

Any ideas?

I eventually compiled it or found it in some PPA, I don't remember, but it has no presets inside which sucks. I am not sure where to get presets from.

What are your JACK settings? And maybe increase your timeout setting in JACK a bit. Default is 500, try setting it to 1000 or 2000.

Hi Louigi, download the tarball from Sourceforge and extract it. Presets are in the 'banks' directory.

The Timeout setting was indeed set to 500. I ramped it up to 2000 and that seems to have taken care of the problem. Thanks Autostatic...PS. Good luck to your football club in the quarter finals at the World Cup...
