autostatic - It is Christmas all around - I thought it was great. Something bothered me around 2'38-2'42, but I don't know how to define it. Sometimes it seemed to me that it was a little different.
Maybe it's the solo, I kinda missed a note there which resulted in a sort of a pinched harmonic.

Nice vocal tonality but a bit, err, microtonal , e.g. always slightly too low on first syllable of "Christmas" in the chorus.
You should really hit the unconventional scale notes and intervals of the vocal line in the verse with conviction.
I can only agree, I really need to work on improving my vocals. Maybe it's really getting time to get some singing lessons, maybe a good resolution for 2024
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amOverall good production and mix.
Thanks! Never worked with Airwindows plugins before and they are rather unconventional so it took some adjusting and some trial and error.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amDrums a bit too dry for my taste.
Agreed! But I just couldn't find a suitable reverb.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amGuitar very well played and sounding good, though I would have probably chosen a more dirty overall sound and done more doubling.
I did try this but since the Airwindows amps all have a similar base sound they tend to get in each other's way. I should've tried some other guitars maybe.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amChorus should have main vocals doubled or quadrupled.
Also agreed. But I simply had a hard time getting the current vocals recorded. Did it at home, next time I'll do them in my rehearsal space, that's more relaxed. And I chose for a melody structure that is just about the limit of what my vocal skills allow.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amSolo guitar too low.
Agreed too. This is just me being too cautious, I could've ramped up that solo guitar a bit more yeah.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amHard to hear the voice over in the beginning after the guitars come in.
The original was really like Herbert from Family Guy so had to muffle it, de-essing simply didn't work. This resulted in what you describe. On the other hand, I added it for some extra flavor and not that it should be completely intelligible.
SpotlightKid wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:05 amKey shift excellent.
Thanks! Just going up a note fitted well, also with the first two notes of the chorus.

You got me with this one. I didn't know, that punk can be xmas-y. Now I know.
Well, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas ... gion_EP%29 is a staple here around Christmas

+1 for the backing vocals
Thanks! I wanted more backing vocals but I couldn't persuade the rest of the family to join in unfortunately
