KVR December competition
The month the theme is an easy one - festive season ![]()
So come on folks. It's getting very lonely being the only Linux musician contributing.

...ist the time extended? I had an idea, but no time...
I don't have the slightest idea on how to make a plugin or anything like that. My background is network engineering and repairing computers. I wish the KVR contest would consist of people making it for the three platforms. They want to do a contest and make it interesting don't only do it for Mac and Windows, how about the wrong in some spicy Linux?
I'm surprised that they haven't added that to the rules yet. Just my two cents! What do you guys think? And if any of you guys enter, good luck and kick ass!

Some of the plugins and stand-alone kit is cross platform, but you don't have to be any kind of developer to take part in the contest. As far as I can remember, the cafe contest has never specified any particular kit - maybe you're thinking of the one synth challenge which is quite different!
Besides, you can hardly expect any special consideration for Linux if there's nobody joining in ![]()

Yeah I get there's not enough of us from our platform but what I'm saying to make the contest a little bit more interesting and tougher is that make the plugins or standalone available for all three platforms. Companies like audio assault and the likes of said that they've noticed our platform growing so they are starting to cater to us. To get Linux out there more to the masses can help if these developers actually made it for all three platforms.
One thing of always heard from devs on our platform when they start to fork it and start making their plugins available for the big two platforms is that it will bring hopefully more people over to our platform and then the demand will be there but I have yet to see that or unless that may be the fact behind companies like audio assault making their plugins and standalones available for us. It may be just a slow process but something like KVR adding that stipulation in there will actually put our platform on the map.
And as you mentioned about the developers I'm not a synth user I'm a guitar player and I very rarely use amp Sims. I would use IR loaders for the preamp pedals I have and of course all the beautiful tools we have like the stuff that comes from LSP and other things like from tramp and so on.
If I continue going I'm going to again hijack another thread so I don't want to do that so back on the topic is that I just thought it would be kind of interesting and beneficial to us if that was part of the stipulation. As I've mentioned that a lot of our devs will make their product available for Windows and sometimes even Mac and as they said it's in hopes of getting more this way Well why can't it go the other way around where developers from the two big platforms make for us so hopefully that would send guys over in our direction because our operating system is free and we have some amazing free plugins and standalones and for those who are serious about making a life out of being a sound engineer, what better than a platform that you can find tune and has great free software and now if you want to go to the commercial sides that's available?
That's all I'm basically trying to say to get more done for our platform. Okay I think I said enough before I end up killing or hijacking this thread so I'll shut up now ![]()
There hasn't been a closing date set yet (nor even a submissions thread) but it usually runs until close to the end of the month - with Christmas near the end that might mess it up and shorten the time a bit.
oh sorry, i wasn't aware of the december competition, i was talking about november...
