My free pianos 2.1 release, plus Estonia

Post by sofia-m »

Hi,

The 2.1 releases of all my pianos are available for downloading at: https://luciphercode.wixsite.com/sofia-mz
Besides several minor fixes, the new feature is the longer samples in the three lower octaves (C1 24 sec, C2 22 sec, C3 18 sec) which should deliver better sustain.

As a bonus, I released a new library, the Monte Mario Concert Grand, 2017 Estonia 274 Concert Grand, recorded in Rome, Italy.

This is actually the very first piano that I sampled, and I was instantly taken by its understated elegance.
However, there were some issues with the recordings that I needed to address before uploading the library to ensure this beauty was on par with my other instruments.

Happy playing!

Sofia

Kind of is, but I think it would be appropriate if Fred (or whatever his name is) burnt with guilt for a few weeks.

Isn't it just opposite, good that you downloaded them yeasterday, today they aren't available? (Assuming they are good, like everybody has been telling)

No, because they are infringing the copyright of whoever makes Pianoteq and therefore I can't use them. Also if I'm going to use Pianoteq I rather just use Pianoteq than some limited sampled version.

Pianoteq is not a sample based instrument, so there is no infringement of copyright.

Are you sure it's all synthesized, no hammer noise or key noise samples?

Good, I remember old versions using samples.

So, no copyright infringment, probably just EULA violation then, if today's EULA still has:

"Sound produced by Pianoteq can only be distributed within a musical context, and not in forms that allow the sounds to be used as sample based instruments or sample libraries."

Good, I remember old versions using samples.

Their "historical" instruments (the Kivir pack?) apparently do use samples for pedal noise and such. Haven't found official documentation of this though, just read it on their forum.
