Perpetual Love (remix and new guitars)

Here is the remix of the second (and last) song from our 1996 demo: Perpetual Love. (The first was When You Go Away, also posted here.)
This one was written (music and lyrics) by the bass player (Piera Bergamo) and is a lot more representative of our style. As usual for this band, the bass and drums are really outstanding!
I have a short blog entry, but there is not much in it. Remixed in Ardour 8, with the LSP, x42, u-he, OvertoneDSP, and IK Multimedia plugins mostly.
It was very hard to mix, and I am not too happy with the results, but I don't seem to be able to do better...
(The original mix can be found here.)
EDIT (11/08/2023): I've recorded new guitars. See the link and more info in my post below.

@ Finotti: You're pretty hard on yourself
...the notes and vocals are on key, there are plenty of skills on display, I don't hear anything 'wrong' with the mix, the parts are not at war with each other...honestly, it reminds me of something the band Yes would be happy to present. It has great energy, plenty of variety, and intrumentals/vocals that didn't seem at all cliche'. I hope your band makes a comeback! I bet Taylor Swift & friends would also like this. And they are chin deep in $100 bills
Cheers

Thanks for listening to it and for your very kind comments!
I work very hard on these mixes, but often the sound a bit "muffled", compared to my references. But I can't make them brighter without sounding either harsh or thin...
Also, my mixes tend to sound good in some of my headphones/speakers and not in others... So, I am never too sure on what to do. I end up setting to what sounds best to the ones I use the most, since most likely I am the only one who really still listens to my recordings a week after I post them,

Now, Yes is my favorite band of all time! So this makes me very happy to hear!

I wish we could make a come back! But I live in the US, while the rest live in Brazil. I am good friends with the bass and keyboard player, but have not seen the singer and drummer in decades. It would be nice, though... Maybe record some new songs, long distance...
Again, thanks for listening!
New guitars!

I've rerecorded the guitar parts! The parts are mostly the same, but the solo is new and the rhythm guitars have been double tracked. I like the sound of the guitars better now.
The rest of the mix (and all other parts) are basically the same. Here it is: Perpetual Love (New Guitars)
For more details, mostly for guitarists, see my blog post.

Sounds fine. Haven't heard this style (power metal?) in decades.
