That's hardly a good experience for music fans and for artists it means if you want to have any sort of reach, you have to do a lot outside of bandcamp to direct people to your page.
Regarding promotion and discovery, I simply don't expect Bandcamp to do that for me. I expect my signature here to do that :)

What are you going to do when bandcamp is no more?
Exactly! There's no viable alternative I'd be comfortable with yet!

Rick Beato has said that, assuming one's music is good enough, you need to promote it with a good website, hosting the music and related products in easy to access formats, and post regular reliable content on the big social media platforms. They are not all equal in importance, but It is the frequent cross-referencing among them that builds exposure, interest, and loyalty, that might garner sales. Maybe I'll jump in those murky waters later in life
Some of Rick's music-biz videos;
About the future of music and song length, with Ted Goia: https://youtu.be/qM4sEl8avug
How to make money with music: https://youtu.be/r0aeGQZhbn0

Why Gen-Z doesn't care about music: https://youtu.be/Ag4iFa6E_yY
I like Distrokid, but by it's nature, it takes a while for new submissions to 'hit the shops'. BandCamp is pretty instantaneous.
And it's easy for people to remember and reach, when I mention my music to strangers and casual contacts.
So 'all and more' could be a decent strategerie

At the moment there's a big question mark over Bandcamp, so I'd suggest not putting all your eggs in one basket - you may find they get broken in the not to distant future
Can you elaborate on this ? A big question mark by who ? Why ?
Else i used to have my own websites (and still have by the way), but among thousands and thousands of music released every day it was just ignored. Bandcamp helped a bit about that.

Here's part of the situation, and many businesses are also in states of change.

Needing to tidy up and colate and remember what's what etc, I discovered how to download
my uploads. (yeah, i never was the shawpist tool in the shed
)
Anyway, if needed,
Got to the album/song page, and switch from public tp private
Go to the pricing area, and set it at zero.
Go to the download dialog, choose your desired format, and hope Aunt Susie sends candy.
This is also an extra way to modify your collection into some useful formats, without
using typical audio conversion tools.
When the candy arrives, reset the price and public status, and re-save your submission.
I did that drill with my albums for an extra back-up drive.
Cheers

If you uploaded in 48kHz you can download in 48kHz format? I thought they resampled everything to 44.1kHz/16bit.
Edit: well, guess I was wrong. And now I have one download in 2023! :)
