modular début: Sunset
This is my first tune that has rhythm and structure and which has been produced using free software only and using modular setup.
It is called "Sunset" and it has been produced with Phasex and Rakarrack and several LADSPA effects and all recorded and put together with Qtractor. I use LADISH to save my studio and all the connections.

I would like to thank everyone on this forum for all the hints and feedback and in some way following my learning linux.
But very specifically I would like to say big thanks to Mike Noble, known here as looplog, who has supported me and helped me compile stuff and in many ways if it wasn't for his help and guidance and sometimes just a sympathetic ear, chances are I would've gave up on linux audio.
And I cannot forget about AutoStatic, who has introduced Phasex and Rakarrack to me through his video on YouTube. These two apps have changed the state of things for me on linux, man.
So this tune is sort of a thanks to all you guys!
Anyway, in-spite of all this saying thank you and pathos, the tune is not really a masterpiece, it's more of a first try out, but I really felt that it is the next big step for me.
Just in case anyone's interested, I did make another tune with Qtractor a while ago, using some of my old loops and recording new tracks with ZynAddSubFX+LADSPA. The result is a tune that might not be to everyone's liking, it is calm ambient and not challenging in terms of melodic movement as there is hardly any. Still, it is a very personal tune and I hope someone might find it rather special.

thanks for the shout out! but really, your focus is actually very motivational, and you keep pumping out these tunes, so the thanks is not really necessary...
Anyway, keep on bringing the music...

Re: modular début: Sunset
Thanks Louigi, and thank you for this happy little tune, again it just sounds so balanced, so warm, so soothing and smooth. One point of criticism though: it's too short!
I wonder how it would sound like if you'd start poking around with unsynthisized/sampled instruments like piano, guitar, bass, Rhodes, things like that

We'll see about that, though typically I am not an instrument-kinda guy. I was, long time ago. Like here:AutoStatic wrote:I wonder how it would sound like if you'd start poking around with unsynthisized/sampled instruments like piano, guitar, bass, Rhodes, things like that

Re: modular début: Sunset
Most of it is LFO, some automation is just volume automation (the fade in, fade out functionality in Qtractor).
