Digital album at Bandcamp, for tough times

The album is free as are the 35 songs, with the admonition that if you like something enough to hear it twice, you would donate to a solid charity, or help someone you know that's in a difficult situation. The songs are instrumentals made in linux systems. Nothing that would scare the cat, or make the dog bark, and hopefully suitable for a peaceful respite or three.

Hi @glowrak , this is a long album! I most enjoyed Chimes of Remembrance for its interesting bell-like textures. I like how you beldn from the glockenspiel like high tones to the more bowl like tones. The other piece I really enjoy is Launching A Borealis for its unbroken mellow softness. You have a nice mix of field recordings in this album, they are good recordings and well placed.
Thanks for sharing!

Very happy you found some you enjoy! Some of the nature sounds are from freesound.org. It's fun trying to match them to a musical idea. And pretty easy to crossfade or paste such that ocean waves break when you want them to, rather than competing with a phrase. I spent some time doing that with 'One Footstep Behind The Dream', and 'Spirit And Soul'. The bell sounds are probably from old win vsts Augur and Synth1, but these days there are so many linux softsynths from which to find or create sounds. I used Rakarrack for the delay/reverb effects.
In Launching A Borealis, I used a feedback generator, BlueCat's Acoufiend, and Native Instruments Replika delay/reverb combo plugin, with a long tailed diffusion delay receiving the feedback. Hope your summer is both warm and cool
Cheers

Congratulations! What an incredible investment of time and work all for such a noble pursuit to soothe..
I'm listening now but it will take several return visits to make it through, I love the warm pluck of the bass notes in "Never the Same Again" and how it moves and evolves with the crystalline synth on top, you must really enjoy the sound design aspect of creating these!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for listening! To be clear, the music was pre-existing. I did spend about five hours researching how to use Bandcamp,
and then choose and upload the songs. Their system worked fine, and if I can figure it out, anyone can
I'd been meaning to do this, but the fire in Lahaina Maui got me moving. There are some survivor interview videos below of people who lost everything, with gofundme and venmo links in the video details, created by local Eric West, who is tirelessly documenting the tradgedy. The locals in the Kelowna fire zone did great work, in dire conditions,

and no lives lost so far, as opposed to the mess exacerbated at every turn by corrupt or stupid officials in and around Lahaina, so opportunities to help those with literally nothing but their escape vehicle, are plentifull

Hi, I don't design sounds, but have been enthralled by those who do, and have sifted through tons of presets over the years, and can remember various ones that might fit in a current idea. I have learned how to modify them a bit here and there, and love the process of 'getting lucky', which dominates my skills by a large margin.
The championship golfer, Gary Player once said, "The harder I practice, the luckier I get". I should get a temp tatoo of that line!

Thankyou for being a man of action, and a great example for linux musicians to follow. The Jeremy Baldwin and Bethany Gurgone families gofundme sites will receive all the album support, and matching whenever possible. Their homes and business tools were incinerated, but they and their children are safe and doing well. I'm very happy you can code with my music wandering around your workspace. I can't say the same, as my coding skills are mainly a copy/paste drill, and best left at that level
PS ...for those new in these parts, The 'Folderol Collection' presets bank for Yoshimi and zynaddsubfx is one of the best out there compared to those of any competing synth, commercial or otherwise. And few synths compare well against Yoshimi
Cheers
