Default Timer Suite Op.1

Hi all,
after the EP I've become lazy again, but since I'm on my summer vacations, I decided to try and work on something anyway. I eventually spent some time on a dumb idea I had for a while: turning the timer notification sound of my phone in a symphonic metal track
(as everyone does, I guess)
I made a just-as-dumb video out of it too (YouTube only for now, as it's blocked on PeerTube for some reason):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EnJlcf3VpE
but if you want audio only it's on Soundcloud too:
https://soundcloud.com/lminiero/default-timer-suite-op1
It's a very short track, and the process is pretty much the same I always follow, so I'm not sure there's anything meaningful to add. I hope you'll have fun watching/listening to it, and feel free to ask questions if you have any!

Cool track! I especially like the symphonic intro.
From 1:37 to 2:00 the recording sounds overly distorted though (due to a compressor maybe?).

Hi @Rainmak3r , oh it's priceless!
Great work! You so nailed the sound and the attitude. Well orchestrated and played. There's one thing I would criticise, and this is in the production: the drums. They somehow fall short. I'm not even sure how much of it is production and how much is simply within this kit. The cymbals/overheads are fine, but the snare and toms in particular lack energy. They appear to be somewhere in a different room, and that, I would say, is not due to too much reverb.
Still, such things are there to try us.
The song is great! Absolutely great and a lot of fun! I do like the inspiration. You should get more interesting apps or vocal household appliances. You make a good case for always keeping your ears open!
Thanks a lot and best wishes,
Jeanette

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
On the distortion, it's very likely I did something wrong: I felt very lazy working on this, so I didn't pay as much attention to the mixing as I did, for instance, for the "All I want for Christmas is Odin" track which had a similar orchestration and arrangement. I recorded everything quickly and in a couple of days it was out

Yeah, I've sort of given up on drums
There's also the fact that, as I said in a different reply, I approached the mixing of this track very lazily, so it's very likely I missed some of the work I usually do that makes drums more acceptable than they were here. To be fair I didn't care much, as it was only a short fun thing, and didn't want to spend much time on it: it's also why I've shared so little lately, I currently just lack the will and energy to work on more serious stuff I've had in the pipeline for a long time.

Yes, the fun part was indeed how it all came from something so meaningless and routine, and how inspiration can come from the weirdest of places!
Thanks for listening and for the usual precious feedback!
