I own a Behringer 404 (old revision). If anyone wants output from a specific command then I can post that here.

BTW Thanks y'all for the info that the B., indeed, has balanced in- and ouputs.

Hi guys, I'm back . . . miss me?

I did some wrestling with that 18i8, but it beat me. I used the Scarlett Mix Control software for Gen1 Scarletts and set it to feed the DAW output to the monitor and headphone jacks and it worked as a single-bus DAC, but after one reboot of the host PC it simply stopped putting out output. Dead quiet, the way I like my male escorts, but not my audio interfaces. Power off, power back on, try again, no audio, reconnect to the Mix Control software, all good, nothing changed, try again -- no audio. So. I then unearthed my equally-old Gen 1 6i6 and set it up the same way, and same thing: worked once, then nothing after a reboot. So, too undependable for broadcast.

[I also think that another issue I was having (see viewtopic.php?t=26035 ) was being caused by these hinky old Scarletts confusing ALSA]

I'm thinking that a dual output bus interface is probably not an easy thing to find. But I also think I don't need one! My concern was that having two Stereo Tools sharing the same audio interface as input card, with one Stereo Tool outputting to that same interface, but the second Stereo Tool outputting to another audio interface was an recipe for clock drift . . . Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

BUT I've been running my setup for several days like that now with two different audio interfaces and JACK has thrown off no XRUN errors or sonic glitches.

I reckon I can use any "dumb" class-compliant audio interface to give me my second output. I have a Mackie Onyx Artist 1-2 that I use on my production PC and it's reliable. Not too expensive, either, so I might just get me a second one of those.

Thank you all very much for the assistance! Onward!

The Arturia minifuse 2/4 works fine in recent kernels.

But... What about Behringer audio interfaces? I read in some forums that UMC1820 has noise problems in its preamplifiers. Has UMC404HD the same problems?

I have the 404. Indeed, I find it noisy sometimes.

Where did you read about the noise? Do you have a link? When the noise occurred to me I searched the internet but could not find anything. I'm very careful to make sure the green signal LED is on when I play my synth. And I use the 'line/instrument' and 'pad' buttons to get the red clip LED to just about not light up anymore.
